A threatened individual or any person, who becomes aware of a safety/security threat to any other person on College property, should immediately obtain assistance from site Security, Campus Safety Designates and/or the Police. Copies of the Personal Safety/Security Threats policy are available at Security and the Resolution, Equity and Diversity Centre.
Emergency telephones with direct connection to Campus Security are located throughout the hallways of Newnham, King and Seneca@York. Emergency phones are also located in the Markham, King and Newnham campus parking lots.
Security will accompany a student or staff to their vehicles and/or bus stop for all campuses.
All items found should be turned in immediately to the Security department. Security will be responsible for logging, maintaining and keeping all items safe and secure pending the return to the original owner.
Anyone who has lost an item on college property should go to the Security office to check if the article has been brought to Security.
Where possible, all attempts will be made to contact the person who may have lost the item (student identification card, driver?s license, passport, cell phones).
Seneca College Security are First Aid and CPR trained; along with an annual certification in Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
As limited spaces are available for daily parking at most campuses, students are encouraged to use public transportation or carpool whenever possible. Pay and Display machines are available in the parking lots. The machines take cash and credit cards. Please note: Parking facilities and rates at Seneca@York are controlled by York University. For further information, contact York Parking at 416-736-5335.
Vehicles parked illegally, in spaces marked for handicapped parking permits, fire routes, expired meters, visitor parking, landscaped areas, hash marks, not within spaces, not displaying valid parking receipt or causing an obstruction will be tagged and/or towed by the Metropolitan Toronto/York Regional Police or Municipal Parking Enforcement or Private Property Officers.
Please be aware that parking on community side streets and in retail parking lots can and has resulted in cars being tagged and/or towed at the owners? expense. After hours or overnight parking requests must be submitted to College Services.
Drivers are advised to keep their vehicles locked at all times. Vehicles and contents are left at owner's risk. Seneca College is not responsible for any loss or damage to vehicles and contents however caused. For more information please contact Newnham Security Office at 416-764-0911.
