CAN118 - Introduction to Canadian Studies

This course introduces students to the history and culture of Canada. Central figures and major events that have shaped Canada today will be examined. This includes the first contact between European settlers and Indigenous peoples, Confederation and the birth of Canada as a country, and the changing ethnic and cultural landscape of Canada today. Contemporary social and cultural challenges in Canada will also be explored.

CLL200 - Customized Language Learning - Advanced

Students will focus on improving their grammar through editing strategies at the advanced level. The strategies taught will result in increasing their awareness of their grammatical errors and will enable them to continue to improve their writing beyond the duration of the course.

EAP230 - EAP: Advanced Reading and Writing Skills

This course is a continuation of EAP130. It focuses on refining the essay by developing awareness of audience and the use of appropriate registers. The course also focuses on reading strategies and comprehension. In addition, this course also introduces the students to the research essay. Students are expected to be familiar with advanced grammar structures in order to edit for grammatical accuracy at this level.

EAP260 - EAP: Advanced Listening and Speaking Skills

EAP260 is an advanced listening and speaking skills course. It is a continuation of EAP160. The main focus in speaking is on oral production and practical applications for academic and professional settings. Students learn how to use grammatical functions by developing speaking, listening, and decision making skills for each item in a variety of contexts.
