On-the-day Guide

It’s finally here! We’re #SenecaProud to celebrate thousands of new graduates at our Summer 2025 Convocation.

Ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. from Saturday, June 21 to Wednesday, June 25 at Meridian Hall at Yonge and Front streets in downtown Toronto. Each ceremony will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person.

This guide will help you and your guests make the most of this special occasion.

What to Expect

We’re thrilled to celebrate Seneca Polytechnic’s April 2025 graduates at Convocation.

For those who are unable to attend, the ceremonies will be livestreamed. Visit the #SenecaProud Zone for tips on how to share your excitement, celebrate your achievements and show off how #SenecaProud you are on your social accounts.

Meridian Hall is wheelchair accessible. Since there is no on-site parking at the venue, anyone with accessibility needs can be dropped off at the main entrance on Front Street.

If you need assistance, please speak to a TO Live Usher or a Seneca employee in a red shirt.

Graduates should arrive a full hour before the ceremony. The graduate entrance will open about one hour and 20 minutes before the ceremony.

  • Arrive by 9 a.m. for 10 a.m. ceremonies.
  • Arrive by 1:30 p.m. for 2:30 p.m. ceremonies.

Please bring your Seneca OneCard and your registration confirmation email.

Graduates will enter Meridian Hall through the designated Graduate Entrance off Yonge Street and will be directed to the Graduate Gown Room to register and be gowned.

Guests are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony and will use the main Meridian Hall entrance on Front Street to enter the venue, which will open one hour before the ceremony begins.

Please ensure that all your guests have a copy of your registration email, as they may be asked to display it in order to be admitted.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Should you require assistance, please speak to a TO Live Usher or a Seneca employee in a red shirt.

Please note, graduates and guests sit in different areas and will be able to meet after the ceremony, at the reception.

Graduates and guests should plan to stay for the entire ceremony, which will be about two hours in total.

Seneca cannot take responsibility for your personal belongings. Please bring only what you need, or leave items with your guests or in the coat check.

Consider using the restroom before you proceed to check in and line up.

As a graduate, you will be directed to the Graduate Gown Room to get your gown and name card, which you’ll need throughout the ceremony. Your card is essential for announcers to correctly pronounce your name and have it display on screens in the ceremony hall, so please do not fold, bend or damage it as this could prevent these functions from working properly.

Make sure the information on your card is correct. If not, please tell staff in the Graduate Gown Room as soon as possible.

A gown will be ready for you to pick up based on the height you indicated when registering.

After checking in, graduates should proceed to the lower lobby to line up.

You must have your name card and gown to line up by the appropriate sign.

Please join the line that corresponds with the group letter/colour and number on your card. This will ensure you’re in the right position when your name is called to cross the stage.

Marshals will guide graduates into the auditorium for the processional. Please ensure you stay in line and turn off or silence your mobile devices before entering the auditorium. Once you have entered the auditorium, remain seated until a marshal asks you to stand and join the procession to the stage. Remember to bring your name card that you received when you registered.

Once you get to the stage, you’ll hand in your card. When your name is called, you will come out to centre stage to be congratulated by Seneca officials.

After you have crossed the stage, you will be led to your original seat for the rest of the ceremony.

Once the ceremony is over, the Platform Party will exit the auditorium first, then graduates led by a marshal, followed by guests.

Congratulations!

The formal part of Convocation is over and you can celebrate with family, friends and the Seneca community at the reception. Be sure to locate the designated meeting points for your faculty so you can connect with your professors and classmates.

You’ll find graduation merchandise and gifts for sale at our campus store in the main lobby. Convocation flowers will be on sale in the lobby and pre-ordered bouquets can also be picked up. Additionally, graduation photography sessions will be offered, so be sure to visit the Snap Studios website to schedule your appointment.

There will also be photo stations set up outside Meridian Hall. Don’t forget to follow Seneca's social media channels and share your posts and pics using #SenecaGrad.

Please return your gown and regalia (including hoods) before you leave. These may be returned to the coat check on the Main Level or to one of the drop-off tables located throughout Meridian Hall, including at each exit.

One More Thing

We hope you have a fantastic time! Once you’ve graduated, you will be joining more than 300,000 Seneca alumni who have access to various benefits, resources and opportunities. We wish you much success! Please keep in touch.
