I want to promote the Dual Credit program and all its benefits. It was an amazing experience. I want to tell every single person in high school to take advantage of the program; even if you don't plan on going to college, do it anyway. It's a great experience that tells the postsecondary institutions that you are applying to that you take charge, try new things, that you’re serious about your education and you take advantage of what life has to offer. 

It helped me grow as a person; I used to be shy but with Dual Credit and me taking charge, it helped me become more comfortable with myself. I got comfortable asking questions and got to know everyone in the class really well with the smaller classes.

The professors got to know you too, so they would come give extra help if needed. They checked in with the students. 

My Dual Credit courses helped me figure out what I enjoyed doing and what I could do as a career. I am a well-rounded person thanks to the programs that I took in high school. The Dual Credit courses helped me fill in my electives in my full-time program at Seneca so I could focus more on the mandatory classes at hand. With that in mind, I had less stress for those semesters. They helped me figure out how to study efficiently and time management. The Dual Credit program eased me into the college life while attending high school.

It’s great, it’s free, the tuition, textbooks and transportation are included. The orientation helps you get comfortable with the campus. There are also current students as mentors to help if you have questions or need anything. It’s a great transition — taking one college class to see what the experience is like. 

You are taking one class, but it counts for a high school credit and a college credit — two in one. Having a college experience while still in high school is so valuable. You can test the waters about what programs you’re thinking of doing or you can take a course you’re interested in even if it doesn’t relate to your career. It’s a great learning experience! 

I went into my first year knowing where everything was; that level of confidence really helped.  

I got so comfortable with Seneca, with Blackboard and with how Seneca functioned, it just didn’t feel right attending a different school after.

I have done all four of my Dual Credits at Seneca at different campuses. I graduated in April of 2020 from the Environmental Landscape Management diploma program at King Campus, which I absolutely loved. I plan on going back to Seneca come September to get a degree.

The Dual Credit program made me who I am today. If I could, I would do it all over again!
