Seneca student film goes viral

A film created by students from Seneca’s Animation diploma program has been viewed millions of time on YouTube since its release in July. Next Friday: Magical Meow Meow, co‑directed by recent graduates Jen Nguyen and Mary Ramos, draws inspiration from the creators’ childhoods, favourite 2000s‑era shows and the complex bond between sisters.

Growing new international opportunities 

Seneca has signed a new partnership with the American College of Higher Education (ACHE), one of Sri Lanka’s leading postsecondary institutes. This new pathway agreement will offer students the opportunity to start their studies in Sri Lanka at ACHE and then transfer to study in Canada at Seneca to complete their bachelor’s degree.

Clean living through technology

Forty teams comprised of Seneca students, graduates and associates went head-to-head in Seneca’s recent Hackathon, with clean energy the focus for 2026. Top prize went to the Fusion team, whose creation involved building a data-driven platform to provide homeowners with personalized solar feasibility and savings assessments.

Community partners with common goals

Seneca’s School of Early Childhood Education partnered with the City of Toronto and Centennial College to celebrate the Children Services Mentoring Project. Bringing together educators, institutions and community partners, the event sparked thoughtful discussion, challenged perspectives and highlighted the value of learning from one another to support a stronger early learning and childcare sector.

Keeping green across our campuses

This summer, City of Toronto representatives visited our Newnham Campus to see the latest sustainable landscaping work made possible through the Greening Partnership Grant. Seneca has received the grant four times and the partnership has helped plant hundreds of trees and more than 1,000 shrubs at Newnham, as well as revitalize the courtyard at Seneca@York.

A major honour for a Seneca fire safety expert

A professor in Seneca Polytechnic’s School of Fire Protection Engineering Technology has earned recognition for his commitment to public safety. Jason Williams, Fire Chief for Port Hope, was recently named Ontario’s 2026 Fire Chief of the Year by the Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officers Association.
