Seneca Polytechnic and CEWIL Canada offer work-integrated learning bursaries starting this summer

Making it easier for students to connect with employers

July 22, 2025 (Toronto) — Seneca Polytechnic, in partnership with Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning (CEWIL) Canada, is providing nearly $500,000 in bursaries to support students participating in work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities during the Summer and Fall 2025 terms.

Qualified students will receive up to $1,500 to help ensure financial constraints do not stand in their way of meaningful WIL experiences, including internships, applied research projects and community service learning. WIL at Seneca connects skilled, job-ready students with employers from more than 130 programs across diverse industries. These opportunities allow students to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings while gaining valuable skills and professional connections.

“Work-integrated learning is a powerful way to connect students with industry and community partners,” said Dario Guescini, Associate Vice-President, Global Business Development and Experiential Education. “Thanks to this support from CEWIL Canada, more students will be able to benefit from these valuable experiences as part of their education at Seneca.”

"When we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of our country,” said Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario. “This starts with breaking down financial barriers and unlocking new work opportunities for students. Through the Innovative Work-Integrated Learning (I-WIL) Initiative, Seneca Polytechnic is connecting students with industries to provide them with meaningful work experience and opportunities.”

Part of CEWIL Canada’s iHUB initiative, the bursaries are funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Innovative Work-Integrated Learning Initiative and aim to expand access to quality WIL experiences across the country.

The bursary is available to all domestic students who have completed their work-integrated learning placements by Dec. 31, 2025.

Priority will be given to applicants who identify with specific demographic groups recognized by CEWIL Canada. Through this focus on equity and inclusion, Seneca is committed to fostering a more accessible and supportive learning environment for all.

This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Innovative Work-Integrated Learning Initiative.
