Seneca Polytechnic recently hosted Nolan Quinn, Ontario’s Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security, at our King Campus for his first-ever visit to Seneca.

The Minister had a firsthand look at the important teaching and learning that occurs at Seneca every day.  It was also an opportunity to talk to the minister about skill shortages in key industries, postsecondary funding and how Seneca plays a key role in promoting innovation and advancing the Ontario economy.

Minister Quinn met with many students and employees during his visit. His tour began at the Animal Health building, followed by a visit to the barn area where Minister Quinn met veterinary technician students and a few of Seneca’s four-legged animal residents. This part of the tour was especially topical, given Seneca’s recent announcement of a new strategic partnership with Confederation College, aimed at enhancing veterinary tech opportunities for students across Ontario.

The Minister then met with nursing students and employees from the Seneca Nanji Foundation School of Nursing. This occurred during one of the students’ training modules, giving the minister an opportunity to see these future practical nurses in action.

Accompanied by his parliamentary assistant Lorne Coe, the minister left with a gift of honey, supplied by Seneca bees.
