About the Proposed Program

Seneca’s proposed Bachelor of Science – Pharmaceutical Chemistry degree program will equip you with a strong theoretical foundation in the sciences and technical skills in areas such as organic and medicinal chemistry, biopharmaceuticals and microbiology.

You will explore organic chemistry principles related to drug design, synthesis and analysis, with upper-year courses focusing on advanced topics such as analytical chemistry and pharmacology. You will gain practical experience using analytical instruments like mass spectrometry, gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography.

The program features immersive, hands-on learning opportunities through labs, inquiry-based projects, simulations, case studies, work-integrated learning and a final-year capstone project. Through these hands-on learning experiences, you will build your understanding of pharmaceutical formulation development and learn to create a variety of dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, syrups, injections, ointments, creams and more.

With a focus on sustainability in the pharmaceutical field, you will also explore concepts related to green chemistry and learn best practices to minimize environmental impact caused by chemical waste and solvents.

This program is currently pending ministry approval with its first start planned for September 2027.
