About the Proposed Program

At Seneca Polytechnic, we develop new programs to respond to the needs of employers and the changes of an evolving labour market.

Whether you want to design immersive environments, develop interactive prototypes, build future‑focused digital products or lead creative innovation, this program prepares you to thrive across sectors — from health care and education to industrial design, software, media and beyond. In this proposed two-year Master of Digital Media & Design program, you will design multisensory, socially responsible digital experiences that shape how people interact with the world, both virtually and physically.

Throughout the program, you will build an industry‑ready portfolio that reflects your insights and technical expertise. In your second year, you’ll move directly into the field to complete an eight‑month, 840‑hour internship, giving you the experience, confidence and industry connections that set you apart. You’ll graduate as an adaptable, ethical and future‑focused digital creator equipped to drive innovation, enhance user experiences and shape what comes next.

You’ll work with cutting‑edge tools, real‑time engines, artificial intelligence (AI), XR/AR/VR and industry‑aligned design software while learning to think critically, design ethically and create with purpose. The program integrates principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and Indigenous knowledge throughout the curriculum, preparing you to design for social good and to create experiences that are accessible, inclusive, culturally responsive and human centered.

Every course includes hands‑on labs so you can experiment, prototype and solve real‑world challenges from day one. The program is delivered in a hybrid format, giving you the choice to participate in many components either in person or online. This approach supports graduate learners and working professionals, offering the ability to balance academic, career and personal commitments without sacrificing access to the tools, technology and mentorship that drive meaningful learning.

This program is currently pending ministry approval with its first start planned for September 2027.
