At Seneca Polytechnic, we develop new programs to respond to the needs of employers and the changes of an evolving labour market.

Seneca Polytechnic’s proposed Master of Psychotherapy (MPST) is a flexible, two-year graduate program designed to equip you with the educational and clinical training required to apply for registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). You’ll build the therapeutic skills, cultural humility and professional confidence needed to support clients in today’s evolving mental health landscape. 

You’ll complete two skills-based practicums and two supervised clinical placements, gaining real world experience working with individuals, couples, families or groups. Delivered through a flexible learning model, the program allows you to attend classes in person or online and pursue practicums and clinical placement opportunities close to home. Using advanced technologies, including virtual simulation and supervised practice tools, you’ll develop your counselling skills in a supportive and interactive environment. 

Throughout the program, you will explore counselling theories, trauma-informed practice, assessment, psychopathology, ethics, identity and reflective practice. With a strong focus on equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation, the MPST program will prepare you to serve diverse and underserved communities across Ontario and beyond. 

Upon graduation, you’ll have the educational and clinical skills required to apply for CRPO registration and begin a meaningful career as a psychotherapist in a field experiencing significant demand.

This program is currently pending ministry approval with its first start planned for September 2027.
