Rushmita Alam is a professor in the School of Fashion. She has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, specializing in teaching, research, design and business planning. Her diverse background includes sustainability and inclusive design. Before joining Seneca Polytechnic, she taught at George Brown College and the Toronto Film School. She also played a key role in founding the fashion design and technique department at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology, Bangladesh’s first fashion school, which is in the capital Dhaka.
Ms. Alam co-founded e3 Koncept, an inclusive brand focused on fashion for individuals with disabilities. Her research collaborations include work with the United Nations and the European Union. She has presented extensively on sustainability and inclusion in fashion at postsecondary institutions such as York University, OCAD University and London College of Fashion. She holds an MBA and MDes degrees from OCAD University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Toronto.
