Kennedy Jawoko has over 20 years of experience in academia, journalism and international development. He has been a Professor at Seneca Polytechnic since 2016, teaching in the School of Media.
Mr. Jawoko began his journalism career reporting on the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) violence in northern Uganda. His Ph.D. research at York University focuses on China’s strategic use of journalism to shape international perceptions, with potential implications for global media dynamics. He holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of Toronto and a bachelor of journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University. He was a Journalism Fellow at Stanford University’s Department of Communication, a SEERS Fellow at the Haas Center for Public Service and a Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Mr. Jawoko has worked for CBC Radio and TV and currently serves as Director at Large for the Canadian Media Educators.
