Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) A610
Subject Description
The IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Application Specialist Course is an extensive three (3) day review of the IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies Standard. The course consists of nine modules: 2 mandatory and 7 optional, as per curriculum developed by IPC Association Connecting Electronics Industries. At the conclusion of each module, the students will be subjected to open and/or closed book examination.
Note: Training is conducted by Celestica in cooperation with Seneca college.
Credit Status
Non-Credit from Seneca.
Industry recognized certification from IPC, valid for 2 years.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:
-Use, navigate, locate and apply the criteria contained in the IPC-A-610 Standard to the appropriate class or classes of production.
-Understand and correctly apply the technical discrimination criteria in the Standard.
-Quickly integrate into the electronic industry work environment with the knowledge and skills to perform work affecting product quality.

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.
Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.

Ideal candidates for this course include Production Operators, Inspectors, Technicians, Process Engineers, and Quality Control, Manufacturing and Management Personnel, as well as anyone wishing to comprehend the proper explanation and interpretation of the requirements of the IPC-A-610.
