This course provides an introduction to the fields of social service work, working with immigrants and refugees, and settlement work, providing students an opportunity to explore the legal, ethical and legislated standards that guide professional practice. Through case studies, lectures, guest lectures, experiential exercises and role-playing students will develop an understanding of the professional and personal expectations of the field. Emphasis will be placed on professional readiness to work in a professional and ethical manner.
