This safe, nationally recognized service helps you submit your study permit application quickly and accurately. The BorderPass team of Canadian immigration lawyers will review and submit your application to the Canadian Government, ensuring it is complete.

  3. The BorderPass team of Canadian immigration lawyers review and submit your visa application directly to the Government of Canada.

  4. Once BorderPass submits your application, you will be notified about key dates, and you will have access to planning tools and workforce data that help you plan your studies and career.

As a Seneca student, you also have access to personalized immigration support from Seneca’s immigration specialist team. What is BorderPass?

Seneca Polytechnic has partnered with BorderPass to offer all international students access to its premium Canadian immigration services. Whether to study, work, or build a new life, BorderPass provides international students with the tools to assess and manage their immigration pathway with transparency and confidence. BorderPass has a team of Canadian immigration lawyers that will support you through your application process and then review and submit your application to the Canadian Government, ensuring it is complete and accurate.

Through BorderPass, you will receive free study permit application preparation, review, and filing services by Canadian immigration lawyers. By combining legal expertise with advanced technology, BorderPass can make the process more efficient, and cost-effective for international students. BorderPass also provides students with stronger visibility into compliance and the entire immigration journey to help support long-term goals.

BorderPass Services

Your BorderPass access includes the following services:

  1. Free legal support with temporary residence applications for the duration of your Seneca journey. This includes study permit, co-op work permit, and study permit extension application; plus temporary residence applications such as visitor visa or spouse open work permit (if eligible) for your accompanying dependent family members.
  2. Notifications of key dates, continuous monitoring & management of visas and immigration documentation in BorderPass’ Document Vault & Application Hub.
  3. Relationship with Canadian immigration lawyers and access to professional legal immigration experts, including email/chat support with prompt response times within general working hours.
  4. Ongoing Express Entry score tracking and management providing students with visibility, guidance and tips on their permanent residency pathways.
  5. Post Refusal Support for applicants that receive a refusal and are looking to re-apply or pursue judicial review, a process whereby BorderPass can file an appeal on your behalf in Federal Court in hopes of overturning your refused application.
  6. Newcomer essential services through BorderPass’s trusted service providers and Membership benefits SIN registration, high-level tax advising to maximize credits, and preferred rates on additional immigration services such as permanent residence.

You will receive a free annual BorderPass subscription to premium services and access to Canadian immigration lawyers for the duration of your studies while enrolled in a full-time program. This includes assistance with your temporary residence applications such as an initial study permit, co-op work permit, study permit extension, and Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP); plus temporary residence applications (visitor visa, spouse open work permit) for any eligible accompanying dependent family members. Seneca is covering the legal fees, the only cost to you is IRCC application fees. For a study permit this is a $150 administrative fee and $85 Biometrics fee (if applicable). There are additional optional services that you can subscribe to such as permanent residence and citizenship applications, or SIN # registration. You will receive preferred rates from BorderPass for these additional services.

Yes, BorderPass supports dependent family members and applications can be submitted online using the BorderPass platform. Legal fees for temporary residence applications including visitor visa and spouse open work permits (if eligible) are also free, the only cost to you is IRCC application fees.

You can opt-out of using BorderPass at any time. Please note that if you choose to stop using BorderPass you will lose full access to the Document Vault & Application Hub, notifications of key dates, your relationship with BorderPass Canadian immigration lawyers, ongoing Express Entry tracking, and other newcomer essential services.

BorderPass provides a comprehensive step-by-step guide to help you understand exactly where you’re at in your immigration journey or specific permit application process. You will receive email notifications, and be able to clearly see all of your upcoming key dates through BorderPass’ continuous visa monitoring & management and you will see all of your immigration documentation in your Document Vault. Yes! BorderPass lawyers will be available to assist you every step of the way.

No. However, using BorderPass will provide you with a more complete, accurate, and professional application which is reviewed and submitted by a Canadian lawyer. No one can guarantee that an application can be approved as this is subject to IRCC discretion.

If your study permit application is refused, BorderPass will inform you of the reasons and suggest options on how to move forward. You may be advised to reapply, request reconsideration, or you may be eligible for judicial review services through a BorderPass Canadian lawyer to assess whether the decision can be challenged. As a result of Seneca's partnership with BorderPass, judicial review, reconsideration, and reapplication legal fees are free.

Copies of all your documents are hosted in the Document Vault and can be accessed there. The Application Hub provides an overview of all of your applications including those previously submitted, in progress, and upcoming.

All services on BorderPass are submitted through the lawyers’ IRCC portal, and you can track application or status updates directly through your BorderPass dashboard.

BorderPass is responsive and will be able to assist every step of your application journey. Providing information about your immigration status and journey is something you can choose to share with Seneca’s Student Services team.

Your Journey through BorderPass

Information provided to and received through BorderPass is accessible only by you and your representatives at BorderPass. They will use your information to assist you with your application processes and immigration journey. Please refer to BorderPass’ User Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for more details.

Applications are reviewed and submitted within 24 hours if the application is complete. If the application submitted to the legal team is not complete or there are legal recommendations, the legal team will notify you and will submit your application as soon as you provide the requested details.

BorderPass takes User data security extremely seriously and has numerous technical and operational measures in place to ensure that customer data remains safe. BorderPass successfully completed the AICPA Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type II audit, which confirms that their information security practices, policies, procedures, and operations meet the SOC 2 standards for security. For legal record keeping purposes, your data is retained unless you request it to be destroyed. BorderPass still retains some data in accordance with their Terms of Service. BorderPass retains records for no less than the period prescribed by applicable laws, including respective Provincial Law Society’s Guidelines on Retention and Destruction.

Access to BorderPass after Seneca Polytechnic

You will receive free annual access to BorderPass for the duration of your studies at Seneca.

If you withdraw from Seneca, your access will lapse at the end of the current study term.
