The Honourable Nolan Quinn, Ontario's Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security, toured Newnham Campus to learn more about how Seneca will expand learning opportunities and prepare students for in-demand careers with new support from Ontario's Priority Growth Fund. The visit followed the province's recent announcement of this new round of postsecondary funding aimed at growing capacity in high-demand fields.

During his visit, Minister Quinn saw a range of learning spaces that reflect Seneca’s hands-on approach to education and underscore the breadth of areas supported by the province’s investment. These included the mechatronics, robotics and artificial intelligence labs, and facilities supporting programs in nursing and personal support worker education. Collectively, these spaces demonstrate how Seneca students are gaining practical, industry-relevant experience in sectors critical to Ontario's economy.

The Province of Ontario recently announced funding for 40,000 new postsecondary seats through its Priority Growth Fund as part of a broader $1.7-billion investment to expand access to education and training. The funding will help Seneca meet growing demand for programs aligned with Ontario's workforce needs, particularly in STEM and health-care fields.

This was the latest in a series of visits to Seneca students by Minister Quinn in 2026. He recently spent time at North York General to see Seneca nursing students in their clinical placements and at Boreal Farms to learn more about Seneca's work in agri-tech.
