| | This introductory, 14-week course provides animation students with foundational skills in 3D digital production, focusing on techniques that effectively integrate 2D and 3D workflows. Designed for first-semester students new to the 3D pipeline, the curriculum begins with an in-depth exploration of 2D vector drawing and animation techniques within a 3D environment. This initial focus allows students to ease into the 3D interface using familiar drawing principles. Once the foundational concepts are mastered, the course transitions to core 3D skills, including basic polygonal modeling, digital sculpting, texture/material creation, and scene lighting. Emphasis is placed on practical, creative application of these tools to empower students to incorporate robust 3D elements into their 2D and animated projects. |

Students will cultivate an awareness of these concepts by analyzing how they are used in a variety of texts and contexts, and they will apply these concepts strategically in their own writing. Through a variety of writing tasks centred on these core concepts of communication, students will develop the transferrable reading and writing skills essential for success in their post-secondary studies, workplaces, and communities. COM111: This course introduces students to the core concepts of communication. Students will cultivate an awareness of these concepts by analyzing how they are used in a variety of texts and contexts, and they will apply these concepts strategically in their own writing. Through a variety of writing tasks centred on these core concepts of communication, students will develop the transferrable reading and writing skills essential for success in their post-secondary studies, workplaces, and communities. COM111 is six hours per week in order to offer students extra language and reading support. |
