| | This course focuses on the concept of Quality Assurance in Clinical Research. Topics covered include QA/QC theory, clinical research compliance including an overview of relevant research laws and standards, and concepts related to Quality Management Systems and how these can be applied to the clinical research industry including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training programs, audits and regulatory inspections, deviation management, root cause analysis and CAPA, and metrics. Training on GxPs in the medicinal products industry including GMP, GLP, and GDP will also be covered. Students gain significant hands-on experience in document reviewing, SOP writing/reviewing, as well as case study work in non-compliance / deviation handling, root cause analysis, CAPA and change control processes. These skills were intentionally built into the program to provide students with meaningful QA skills that can be applied to their employment activities without a large training investment on behalf of the company who accepts them. |

As part of the course, students will also learn best practices in interpersonal communication, leadership, problem solving and conflict resolution, and gain exposure to informal and formal meeting procedures. In addition, students will engage in scholarly research on a current clinical research trend and present their findings using clear, effective verbal communication and visuals. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on the rules and standards of effective written and oral communication within the Clinical Research field. |
