Delivery: At Seneca, courses are delivered in four formats: online, in-person, hybrid (an online, in-person combination) or flexible (offered in-person and online at the same time).

	In this subject the student will explore acting principles, beginning with movement and attitude in body posture - i.e. how the body can express an emotion through posing. Through a series of exercises throughout the semester, the students will learn how to convincingly portray emotion, dialogue, attitude, and personality.

	In this subject the student will explore the basic principles of animation and movement through a series of practical assignments. The principles will include squash and stretch, timing and motion, anticipation, action, reaction, overlapping action, slo-in and slo-out, arcs, exaggeration, appeal, timing charts and exposure sheets. The student will take the principles learned in this course and apply them in 3D.
MAY721	Modeling I - Concepts	Hybrid	Not offered	Hybrid
	In this subject the student will be introduced to the principles involved in modeling in Maya. A variety of modeling techniques and surface types, including polygons, nurbs, and sub-ds will be explored. Students will create a series of models culminating with the creation of characters, props and environments for their final production.

	In this subject the student will be introduced to the tools and techniques involved in animating a computer-generated character. The principles will include timing, anticipation, action, reaction, overlapping action, slo-in and slo-out.

	In this subject the student will be introduced to rigging a character for animation in Maya. Emphasis will be on creating effective intuitive and easy to use control systems for organic, bi-pedal and in-organic characters.
MAY740	Lighting, Texturing and Rendering	Hybrid	Not offered	Hybrid
	With this subject students will be introduced to the texturing and rendering tools in Maya. Students will explore a variety of techniques regarding surface UVs, shading networks and materials.
MGL102	Life Drawing I	In-person	Not offered	In-person
	In this subject the student will explore expressive life drawing. The in-class posing of the model will mirror many of the principles being learned in concurrent animation and acting subjects. The student will learn the importance of structure, proportion and volumes. For the entire term, in a position of every class the student will focus on gesture drawing. The student will concentrate on exercises that will progress: beginning with five second to one minute gestures, memory gestures, and visualization gestures.
STR121	Storyboarding - Film Principles	Online	Not offered	Online
	In this subject the student will explore the theory and terminology involved in the production of storyboards for animation. The student will study the visual language of film, structure, scenes, shots, camera angles, and continuity, as well as visualizing and drawing creative staging and posing of character. The use of film reference will be extensive.

	In this subject each student will begin work on his or her final project. This class will focus on the process of taking a project from story board to final video output.

	In this subject the student will be introduced to the principles involved in digital sculpting. Students will build on the acquired skills learned in the Modeling 1 Concepts course. A variety of sculpting techniques, as well as map extraction for enhancement will be explored. Students will create a series of models culminating with the creation of characters, props and environments for their final production.
MAY823	Lighting and Rendering	Hybrid	Hybrid	Not offered
	This course is intended to teach the participants the various aspects of lighting and rendering within Maya. Participants will learn about the technical aspects of rendering, network rendering, maya lights, raytrace and raycast shadows, rendering in layers, render passes, compositing, as well as artistic aspects of lighting, including 3point lighting in depth, diffuse lighting, lighting sets and lighting single subjects. The course will also cover the use of Mental Ray as our primary renderer, including Sub Surface Scattering.

	The student will focus on character animation in the 3D world this semester. The student will develop a storyboard, character designs, location designs and layouts withing their Storyboarding - Project Development course, which will then be used with the animation created to produce a short film (1 min in length) with an emphasis on personality, emotion and attitude.Prerequisite: ANI 101 - Animation Principles

	In this subject the student will be introduced to the principles involved in Maya embedded language and Maya dynamic engine. A setup and scripting techniques for creating rigid bodies, Soft bodies, Particles and scripts will be explored. Students will create a series of setups culminating with the creation of variety of five different dynamic simulation related to their final production.

	In this subject the student will build on the skills learned in the introductory course in rigging. Greater complexity and more refined action set-ups will be achieved through an in-depth examination of constraints, expressions, and advanced scripting.
MGL202	Life Drawing II	In-person	In-person	Not offered
	In this subject the student will continue to build on the firm foundation of life drawing established in the previous semester. This will include a continued focus on structure, anatomy and proportion with a special emphasis on acting and emotions. The student will continue to explore in-class posing to support and complement the information required in the other courses of this term. Pre-requisite: MGL 102 - Life Drawing I
