Please note: Eligibility criteria for apprenticeship in-class training are set by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Skilled Trades Ontario (STO).
Prospective students must register and be a member in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario.
To be eligible for this apprenticeship you must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or able to provide proof of asylum claimant or refugee claimant status to Skilled Trades Ontario
General apprenticeship requirements also include:
- Legal permission to work in Canada (e.g., a valid Social Insurance Number)
- Meeting the education requirements - Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- Having a sponsor in Ontario
Please note: 900-Series SIN clients with proof of asylum or refugee claimant status may attend in-class training at Seneca if they provide required federal government documents, including:
- A valid refugee document
- Notice of Decision
- A valid study permit
- A valid work permit
- Meet all eligibility requirements under the Building Opportunities in the Skilled Trades Act, 2021
All other 900-Series SIN clients are not eligible for this apprenticeship program.
