Ontario College Graduate Certificate

Overview

Important: This program is no longer accepting new registrations. See Related Studies for other options to explore. Current Students should contact Academic Program Manager for any questions.

Medical and recreational cannabis markets are rapidly expanding in Canada and globally. The dramatic growth of the cannabis market has a significant impact on multiple industry sectors. There are 11 different sectors directly associated with the cannabis industry, according to the Marijuana Index. A variety of companies focus on the cultivation, biotechnological product development and marketing of cannabis and hemp products; others engage in retail, safety, quality control and health and wellness.

The Cannabis Industry Studies program is intended for students who wish to enter the developing cannabis industry and is designed to respond to emergent industry demand for cannabis-related knowledge across a number of sectors, including health and wellness, agriculture, food, human resources, retail and consumption devices.

This program provides courses in cannabis, health and wellness, the Canadian legal and regulation system, customer experience and retail sales. Through this program, graduates will gain foundational knowledge that will be an advantage for employment in the dynamic and growing industry.

Upon successful completion, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to be employed in areas within the cannabis industry related to sales, retail, customer service, human resources, health sciences, clinics, distribution and supply chain management.
