Participants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an interpreter OR have successfully completed LNI102, LNI103, LNI104 AND be fluent in English and Spanish.
This workshop focuses on effective ways to deal with the specific challenges of interpreting into Spanish/English, as well as enhance the interpretation skills of participants through practical interpretation exercises.
Participants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an interpreter OR have successfully completed LNI102, LNI103, LNI104 AND be fluent in English/other language.
This 12 hour workshop helps interpreters become better acquainted with the current field of Health Care Interpretation within the realm of the more common diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. In addition, through scripted roles plays of case scenarios, participants are exposed to challenging situations related to mental illness and geriatrics. During the workshop, a glossary of medical terms will be created for participant's future reference.
Participants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an interpreter OR have successfully completed LNI102, LNI103, LNI104 AND be fluent in English/other language.
This 15 hour workshop provides practical training and hands-on experience in legal/court interpretation by using transcripts of actual courtroom discourse. In addition, the workshop prepares you for the mandatory court interpreter testing accreditation/certification.
Participants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an interpreter OR have successfully completed LNI102, LNI103, LNI104 AND be fluent in English/other language.
Interpretation is constantly evolving and the demand for Remote Interpretation (RI) increases daily, surpassing on-site interpretation now. This 15 hour workshop focuses on effective ways to deal with specific remote interpretation challenges and enhances the remote interpretation skills of participants through real-time exercises. Participants will also learn the technical, environmental and personal requirements for working remotely.
LNI 101, 102, 103 and 104 OR LITP Graduates OR 2+yrs interpreting experience
Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) is part of Healthcare Interpreting. This 3 hour workshop focuses on a legal framework an overview, stages, practical exercises and challenges for interpreters. This workshop enables interpreters to provide professional interpretation services in MAiD encounters.
Technical requirements:
Internet connection, laptop/computer, working camera, headset, microphone (earbuds can be used but a headset with a microphone is recommended for full advantage). Please note you will not be able to connect to the virtual classroom with a smartphone.
Bilingual English-Spanish and LNI 101, 102, 103 and 104 OR LITP Graduates OR 2+yrs interpreting experience

This workshop introduces participants to the ILSAT/CILISAT test procedures and grading criteria. A review of sight translation, including text analysis and attention to syntax, along with memorization and note-taking required to perform accurate dialogue/consecutive interpreting will take place. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the required skills, do a mock ILSAT/CILISAT test, and receive constructive feedback from the instructor.
