Overview

Learn to use Adobe Illustrator to create graphics and type in a vector format. Artists, illustrators and graphic designers use Illustrator to create vector-based graphics that can be easily rescaled without the loss of quality. Use Illustrator to create graphics for different media: print, web, interactive and video.

Prerequisite(s):

DGD100 and Photoshop knowledge is recommended

Students discuss and practice creating illustrations using strategies for easy execution. Topics covered include: drawing, typography, compound paths, special effects, three-dimensional objects, layers, masks, complex patterns, blends, effects, custom colours, transformations, transparencies and blend modes, perspectives, graphs, gradients, creating brushes and graphic styles.

Introduction to Adobe Illustrator

Prerequisite(s):

MCT100 or equivalent experience.

Using extensive hands-on practical projects, students learn how to create lines and shapes, edit objects and typographical elements in Illustrator. Students create colourful designs, alter type for display heads, mask objects, use special filters and EPS files in other programs.
