About the Cybersecurity & Threat Management (CYT) Program

As digital innovation continues to rapidly advance, it is becoming increasingly difficult for organizations to keep up with the changing nature of cybersecurity threats.

With a shortage of cybersecurity professionals across Canada, this program was designed and developed with leading financial services organizations to meet the need for individuals with the specialized skills to secure, protect and defend mobile and network infrastructures, preventing fraud, data breaches and other vulnerabilities.

As a graduate of this Cybersecurity and Threat Management program, you will be equipped with cutting-edge best practices and skills in communication, information security, project management, problem-solving and more. The industry capstone project and optional work term will give you hands-on experience and position you for a career in one of the world’s fastest-growing fields.

Students in this program will be required to attend courses at Newnham Campus as well as online.

Program Duration

Study at your own pace: In this program you’ll have the flexibility to choose how many courses you want to take each term. Students who study full-time can complete this program in as little as eight months (two semesters). Duration will depend on the number of courses taken each term. See courses for more information.

Maximum completion time: In accordance with ministry requirements, all students must complete the program within two years of being admitted.

Work Experience

Optional Work Term

This program offers the option to complete a work term, providing valuable hands-on experience in your field of study. If you are interested in completing a work term, apply to the PROGRAMNAME program.

If you select the work term stream you will have the opportunity to participate in a work term(s) if eligibility requirements are maintained. You will have the flexibility to transfer to the non-work term stream at any time. The work term(s) is similar in length to an academic semester and is typically a full-time position that may be paid or unpaid. The work term job search is student-driven and participation in the work term stream does not guarantee that a work position will be secured. However, you will receive guidance and support through in-class career workshops and one-on-one coaching to help prepare for the work term. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional work term stream, regardless of success in securing a work position. For more information, see fee details.

The work term can be completed in person, online or in a hybrid format, depending on the hiring organization.

Program and Course Delivery

This program is offered in Seneca's hybrid delivery format. Some coursework is online and some must be completed in person. Students will need to come on campus to complete in-person learning requirements.

International students planning to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP): You must maintain full-time status and if you are in a flexible delivery course, you must attend classes in person. International Partnership

Seneca Polytechnic’s partnership with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Thailand offers students an exciting dual-credential pathway. Students complete their core bachelor’s degree studies at KMUTT in Thailand and transfer to Seneca in Toronto to complete a graduate certificate. Both institutions recognize select courses toward their programs, allowing students graduate with two credentials.

To demonstrate expertise in the cybersecurity field, graduates of this program can pursue certification through the International Information Systems Security Certifications Consortium (ISC2), a global leader in cybersecurity certification.
