Online courses in the GEA program use a combination of synchronous instruction (scheduled live sessions) and asynchronous learning (independent work completed on your own time).
The GEA program is offered either fully online or in Seneca's hybrid delivery format, where some coursework is online and some must be completed in person at Newnham Campus.
When deciding whether to study online or in the hybrid format, consider your language level, personal situation and any factors that may impact your ability to attend on-campus classes, such as living outside of the GTA.
Access to a laptop or desktop computer is recommended for online classes. A cellphone is not recommended to participate in courses. See Seneca’s Technical Requirements for Online Learning for more information.
Full-time study includes 18 to19 hours of class time per week. You should also expect to complete homework and independent study outside of class time.
No. Daytime and evening classes follow the same curriculum, include the same number of teaching hours, and have the same expectations in terms of coursework and assessments.
Our professors use a variety of methods to teach. Classes are interactive and may include group or pair work, discussions and the use of learning technologies to support skill development.
Assessments happen on an ongoing basis throughout the semester. Your professor’s course syllabus, provided at the beginning of the semester, will communicate the assessments for your course.

"The GEA program wasn't just a stepping stone; it was the open door that led me to the Honours Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics program. I saw it as a platform to bridge the gap between my experiences and my desired future in this new land. The cooperative and resourceful people in the GEA program connected dots for me that I didn't even know existed. They played a pivotal role in shaping my pathway, ensuring I never felt like an outsider."
