	COM101: This course introduces students to the core concepts of communication. Students will cultivate an awareness of these concepts by analyzing how they are used in a variety of texts and contexts, and they will apply these concepts strategically in their own writing. Through a variety of writing tasks centred on these core concepts of communication, students will develop the transferrable reading and writing skills essential for success in their post-secondary studies, workplaces, and communities. COM111: This course introduces students to the core concepts of communication. In this course, students will discover a clear and usable process for delivering exceptional customer value skills, a service leadership attitude, and a high level of professionalism needed to win customer satisfaction and loyalty.

	VolunTourism is a major growth area in contemporary tourism, where tourists travel seeking an experience that makes a difference. This course will explore the growing demand of consumers looking for suppliers and organizations that combine volunteer service to a destination while experiencing the traditional elements of travel, arts, culture, geography, and history in that destination. Studies will review the complex relationship between volunteering and tourism, its sources, the economic, social and policy issues involved and prerequisites for a successful experience.

	This course brings together theory and the application of Services Marketing fundamentals, concepts and strategies used by business organizations. Services Marketing is vital to the success of all organizations but is especially so in the competitive world of hospitality and tourism. Marketing travel services, such as a two-week vacation in Hawaii, is quite different from marketing hard goods (products) because of the intangible nature of services. Consumers are not always able to touch or experience services before purchasing or committing to purchase, which creates additional risk and uncertainty. Students will study service marketing techniques like consumer segmentation and target strategies, positioning, market focus strategy, 7 Ps marketing mix, communication and advertising strategies, and learn the key elements of a marketing plan. This will be applied to assignments and case studies throughout the term.

This course will focus on travel product suppliers, retail and wholesale intermediaries and the consumers, how and why travel products are packaged and distributed to the public. This course also addresses the internal and external booking systems utilized by tour operators, airline and industry personnel as well as the consumer. 	This course is designed to provide students with the essential skills required to be a sales professional in a Business-to-Business (B2B) environment. The course will explore the art and science around planning and executing consultative sales calls, providing Seneca faculty field experience examples and anecdotes, along with the critical skills needed to build and maintain long term win/win B2B relationships. Students will develop their skills by preparing for and conducting both a Discovery Call to learn of customer needs and the value of addressing those needs, and a Closing Call where students will present a solution to meet the identified needs and attempt to close the business. Both calls are conducted with AI simulations developed for this course.

	This course is offered online to provide students with a foundational level of training in the world of cruising. The course curriculum will give students an overview of the Global Cruise Business, including the role of the cruise lines in the travel and tourism industry, develop a detailed foundation and knowledge of the various cruise line products, and destinations, career opportunities available, as well as how to sell a cruise. Current trends and issues in the Global Cruise Industry will be reviewed. Students will complete the CLIA - CCC (Certified Cruise Counsellor Modules) Certification which requires successful completion of eight online modules. Students must purchase the access code from CLIA, Cruise Line International Association which will provide access to the CCC, Certified Cruise Counsellor online learning modules, quizzes, and tests. Students will obtain knowledge and the skill base of the travel products, procedures and services offered in the travel business, and how to sell travel and service clients. Students will learn Business Operations both in the front office and back office procedures, and Financial Elements to operate a successful Travel Business. Comprehensive TICO content to prepare students to write the Supervisor Certification will be covered. Students will cover the curriculum content to write the TAP - Travel Agency Proficiency Exam, set by the Travel Institute. The TAP Exam is the first step towards professional recognition. This exam allows students to demonstrate that they have mastered the basics of the Travel Industry, selling skills, basic tourism geography, and the items, products, services sold by travel professionals.

	This course will further prepare students to write the CTC/ACTA Travel Counsellor Certification Knowledge Exam. Destination information, map work, definitions, general travel product information, reading and interpreting product information and price calculations will be covered and reviewed. There will be a practice assignment that will help you to review the material that you have learned to prepare you to write the Certification Knowledge Test directly with ACTA. There is a fee that is collected by ACTA in order to write this industry certification. Students will be introduced to the curriculum to prepare them to write the Certified Travel Counsellor Knowledge Exam with ACTA. Industry Certifications for online product specializations will be completed. This course will also explore the new age of Global Business Travel. Students will understand this segment of the business travel industry as comprised of many stakeholders at various levels of an organization. Students will examine the multi-faceted role of the Corporate Travel Manager and gain skills in developing corporate travel policies, reporting standardization, compliance practices, customize programs for clients across geographic locations, prepare a Travel Corporate Plan, and RFP. Students will prepare a Business Plan to open an Online Travel Business, RFP, and a Corporate Travel Policy. The national travel industry designations, Certified Travel Counsellor (CTC) and Certified Travel Manager (CTM) are recognizable throughout Canada. Certification is the mark of excellence, as it recognizes an individuals competence in their occupation and provides a marketable credential to use. 	Amadeus was formed in 1987 by an alliance between Air France, Iberia Airlines, Lufthansa, and Scandinavian Airlines Systems. Today it is the leader in terms of bookings worldwide with around 35% of the global market. Amadeus has a very strong presence in Asia and Europe. Most travel companies use a Global Distribution System (GDS) to book flights, car rentals, and hotel rooms. You will learn how to use the Amadeus GDS such as how to search, select, book and modify airline reservations, car rental reservations and hotel reservations. You will also learn air fares and airline ticketing as well as reservation invoicing. You will learn on and be able to practice in the live Amadeus system. Completion of the online training modules will earn you multiple certificates of completion from Amadeus.
