About the Program

This two-year diploma program is designed to provide a solid foundation of the skills and knowledge required to work in the corporate travel business, leisure, or cruise travel sectors. In this program, you will understand the tourism industry as a business with an emphasis on developing a service-driven attitude and honing business skills in marketing, sales and customer relations.

You will also acquire knowledge in negotiation, risk management, learn industry specific global distribution systems, discover local and international tourism destinations and geography.

Through the program’s comprehensive curriculum, you'll gain practical knowledge in negotiation and risk management, learn to use industry-specific global distribution (GDS) systems, and explore local and international tourism destinations and geography. You’ll complete a field placement in your third semester to gain real‑world experience, with the option to complete a co‑op work term for additional industry exposure.

Graduates of Tourism – Services Management – Travel Services Specialization (TIS) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher have an advanced entry pathway toward Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

Work Experience

Field Placement

As part of your program credit hours, you will complete 315 hours of field placement in the third semester. You'll receive assistance from your professor, but it is your responsibility to confirm a placement upon successful completion of all second semester courses before accepting a field placement position.

Optional Co-op

This program offers the option to complete a co-op work term, providing valuable hands-on experience in your field of study. Students interested in completing a co-op work term should apply to the PROGRAMNAME program.

Students who select the co-op stream will have the opportunity to participate in a co-op term(s) if eligibility requirements are maintained. Students will have the flexibility to transfer to the non-co-op stream at any time. The co-op term(s) is typically a full-time paid position completed between two academic semesters. The co-op search is student-driven and participation in the co-op stream does not guarantee that a work position will be secured. However, students will receive guidance and support through in-class career workshops and one-on-one coaching to help prepare for the co-op term.
