About the Program

This eight‑month certificate program prepares you for an entry‑level career in the dynamic travel and tourism industry. You’ll build practical, job‑ready skills and industry knowledge to succeed in customer‑focused roles, while gaining insight into how the global tourism sector operates. 

Through industry‑based learning, you’ll develop service leadership skills and gain hands‑on insight into the day‑to‑day operations of a travel professional. You’ll also learn about global destinations across North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, exploring how physical landscapes, history and culture shape each region’s tourism experience.

Throughout the program, you’ll learn how to promote tourism and travel products and services, improve the quality of customer experience, and discover major global tourism attractions and destinations.

Graduates of Tourism – Travel Operations (TTO) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher have an advanced entry pathway toward Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Specialization.

Skills

Throughout this program you will develop the following skills:

  • Strong customer service and service‑leadership skills supported by core industry and technical knowledge

  • Understanding of sector needs, including business management, analytics and technology in a fast‑paced, global industry

  • Proficiency in full reservation and ticketing workflows and day‑to‑day travel agency operations

  • Experience using Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Sabre and Amadeus 

  • Certification in Certified Cruise Counsellor (CCC) through Cruise Lines international Association (CLIA) 

  • Knowledge and skills to prepare for the CTC Travel Counsellor Certification Knowledge Test, certified by the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA)

Program and Course Delivery

This program is offered online. Students learn remotely and are not required to come to campus. Online learning can be synchronous – scheduled online class time with professors – or asynchronous – no scheduled class time and learning is independent.
