General Transfer Credit Policy

Algoma University will offer transfer credits for all Seneca graduates from either a one-year certificate program or a two- or three-year diploma program depending on college GPA and the degree of affinity/relation between the diploma and degree programs. See Algoma University Transfers and Pathways for specific information.

Seneca graduates of three-year diploma programs with a GPA from 2.5 to 2.99 may be eligible for up to 30 credits and graduates with a GPA of 3.0 to 4.0 are eligible for up to 60 credits towards a related 90-credit, three-year degree or a 120-credit, four-year degree.

Seneca graduates of two-year diploma programs with a GPA from 2.5 to 2.99 may be eligible for up to 15 credits and graduates with a GPA of 3.0 to 4.0 are eligible for up to 45 credits towards a related 90-credit, three-year degree or a 120-credit, four-year degree.

Seneca graduates of one-year certificate programs with a GPA above 3.0 are eligible for 15 credits (one semester) towards a 90-credit, three-year degree or a 120-credit, four-year degree.


Seneca Program: Social Service Worker

Degree: Bachelor of Social Work

Graduates of this diploma program may be eligible for 60 credits (2+2) towards the 120-credit, four-year Social Work degree program. Students must graduate with a minimum 3.3 overall GPA.


Degree: Bachelor of Social Work

Graduates of this diploma program may be eligible for 45 credits towards the 120-credit, four-year Social Work degree program. Students must graduate with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.


Seneca Program: Police Foundations

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Law & Justice

Graduates of this diploma may be eligible for 60 transfer credits towards either the 90-credit, three-year Law and Justice or the 120-credit, four-year Honours Law & Justice degree programs (2+2). Students must graduate with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.


Seneca Program: Computer Programming

Degree: Bachelor of Computer Science

Graduates of this diploma may be eligible for 45 credits towards either the 90-credit, three-year Computer Science. three year Online Computer Science,or the 120-credit, four-year Honours Computer Science degree programs. Students must graduate with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.


Degree: Bachelor of Computer Science

Graduates of this diploma may be eligible for 60 credits towards the 120-credit, four-year Honours Computer Science degree program and 45 credits towards the 90 credit, three year Bachelor of Computer Science degree. Students must graduate with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.


Degree: Bachelor of Computer Science

Graduates of this diploma may be eligible for 60 credits towards the 120-credit, four-year Honours Computer Science degree program and 45 credits towards the 90 credit, three year Bachelor of Computer Science degree. Students must graduate with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.


Degree: Bachelor of Business Administration

Graduates of this diploma may be eligible for 60 credits towards the 120-credit, four-year Business degree program. Students must graduate with a minimum 3.30 overall GPA from the two year diploma and a 3.0 GPA from the three year advanced diploma.


Degree: Master of Computer Science

Seneca graduates who have attained a minimum 75% (B+) average over the last two years of the full-time undergraduate program will be considered for admission and will be exempt from completing all six of the prerequisite courses. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required for international applicants. More information about this program is available on Algoma’swebsite.

Seneca graduates who have attained a minimum 75% (B+) average over the last two years of the full-time undergraduate program will be considered for conditional admission. Students are required to complete the following prerequisite courses required for admission: COSC2007 Data Structures II, COSC3106 Theory of Computing, COSC3406 Computer Organization, COSC3407 Operating Systems I, and COSC4106 Analysis of Algorithms.
